Plastics

Pigments are used as coloring agents in the production of many types of plastics. However, many of the pigment colors contain either heavy metals or strategically important metals such as lead, cadmium, chromium, and cobalt. Worldwide environmental awareness and stricter laws being passed by legislation to reduce or eliminate heavy-metal-based colorants is resulting in increasing demands for environmentally friendly pigments that have high-performance properties in plastics. The Mayacrom^® Pigment line satisfies the unmet market requirement for bright colors that have high temperature stability in plastics.

Pigments respond differently, altering the mechanical, chemical and physical properties in plastics. There is currently a need for high-end pigments suitable for use in plastics, such as Polypropylene (PP), Nylon 6,6, and Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT). Regarding their use in coloring industrial plastics and resins, the Mayacrom^® Pigment Line exhibits competitive advantages over other colors. Some of them are:

Shrinkage- Polypropylene (PP) blended with the Mayacrom^® Pigment Line showed minimal shrinkage.
Chemical Interaction- The Mayacrom^®Pigment Line is stable in Nylon 6,6, resulting in bright colors and stability.
Brittleness- Addition of the Mayacrom^® Pigment Line to fiberglass-reinforced Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) does not cause brittleness.
