As a result of seven years of R&D accomplished at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) focused on understanding why ancient Maya murals still contained bright and brilliant colors, a remarkably innovative series of environmentally friendly pigments were invented and initially developed.

Mayan Pigments, Inc. holds the exclusive worldwide license rights for patents, intellectual property and technology to produce a range of pigment colors that contain no heavy metals. Furthermore, they exhibit many high-performance properties including chemical resistance, moderate temperature stability and good heat and light stability. It has been observed that Mayacrom® pigments do not substantially change color in different lighting conditions.

Our offices and laboratories are located on campus at the University of Texas at El Paso.
